“Cultivation” ripped apart family
Date: 2022-09-26 Source: Chinafxj

Jia Qin (a pseudonym), 77 years old, lives in Dongxing Street, Hunjiang District, Baishan City, Jilin Province. Jia Qin is a retired worker of a construction company in Baishan, and her husband is a retired worker of a steel plant in Tonghua City. Although their only son was born with intellectual disability, the couple made concerted efforts by working together so that, with their hard work and down-to-earth manner, they successfully supported the imperfect family and lived a harmonious and peaceful life.

However, something unexpected happened, which had changed everything for this family ever since Jia Qin became obsessed with “Falun Gong”.

She mistakenly joined the cult and fell into its clutches

In the early summer of 1997, Jia Qin practiced “Falun Gong” by chance. She advised her husband, who was in poor health, to practice it together with her. Because her husband was not interested in it, she had no choice but to practice it by herself. At first, although she had some doubts about the “Falun Gong” leader in the photo, she was eventually enticed into practicing “Falun Gong” because the propaganda of the cult was too tempting to reject —practicing “Falun Gong” could cure diseases and help keep fit,and cultivation would bring practitioners into the realm of “Falun” or “Kingdom of heaven”.

After a period of time, deceptive hype words of the cult, such as “Perfection”, “Karam elimination”, “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance”, “Being a good person”, etc., were deeply implanted in her mind and occupied her life. She seemed to be able to reach the state of being ethereal. With a regular life style and consistent practice for some time, she really enjoyed relief from her previous symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath, which strengthened her confidence in “cultivation”. As a superstitious person since childhood, she had a strong curiosity about anything that might be supernatural. Because she wasn’t sure whether there were “Gods and Buddhas”, she got quite worried when thinking of the frequent occurrence of natural disasters such as earthquakes, plagues, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and floods. However, she felt hopeful again at the enticing idea that people who practice “Falun Gong” could avoid disasters and misfortunes and entered the “Heaven of Falun”, which was preached by “Master Li”.

In the days that followed, her obsession with “Falun Gong” increased to such a degree that she would preach it to anyone she met. At that point, she was so addicted to her cultivation that she couldn’t wake up from its fallacies and heresies.

Her pursuit of “Consummation” put her family in straitened circumstances

In July 1999, the state banned “Falun Gong” in accordance with national laws. Her husband, relatives and neighbors took this opportunity, tried to persuade Jia Qin into answering the national call with immediate action and stop practicing “Falun Gong”. However, Jia Qin couldn’t come round. Instead, she insisted on going her own way and aspired to the rosy picture painted by the “Falun Gong” cult. Therefore, she kept practicing and sent forth “righteous thoughts” at fixed times required by “Falun Gong” teachings.

Li Hongzhi urged followers to take to the streets, preaching that “it was enormous merits beyond measure to help one attain the Dafa” and to “clarify the truth” in order to “save the world”. Under such constant inducement and agitation, Jia Qin worked really hard to “promote Dafa” and secretly went out to distribute cult propaganda materials from time to time. No matter who they were, neighbors, relatives, or ones “who believed themselves were destined for Dafa”, Jia Qin would step forward to make the acquaintance of them by finding a topic to chat, then she would preach “Falun Gong” to them and instigated them to do the “Three Quittings”. Although she believed what she had been doing was to save people and accumulate virtues, as time went on, people around her started to stay away from her until no one paid any attention to her babbling anymore.

Bewitched by Li Hongzhi’s heresies, such as “cultivating away fame, material interest, and emotion” and “going up to a higher level”, Jia Qin who always attached a great deal of importance to her family started to ignore her mentally handicapped son and became careless to family affairs, or simply stopped taking care of them. As tension between Jia and her husband’s relatives was increasing, she became even more nervous, strange and jumpy.

Jia Qin’s husband was fully aware of the real danger of “Falun Gong”. At first, he patiently tried to talk her out of it. Later, they quarreled frequently about it. And finally, they even fought with each other because of it. In order to avoid “interference” from those “demons” that prevented her from practicing “Falun Gong”, Jia Qin simply moved into the house of her fellow practitioner so as to better “promote Dafa” in a peaceful mood.

Her diligent cultivation brought death and destruction to her family

In the early winter of 2013, her care-laden husband suffered from liver cancer. However, her husband’s misfortune and her son’s future failed to be a wakeup call for her to stop going down the wrong path to abyss of “Falun Gong”.

One night in March 2014, Jia Qin and two other “Falun Gong” members secretly distributed cult propaganda materials and were reported by residents. The public security officers responded quickly and arrested all three of them in the act, then the police seized a large number of illegal propaganda materials and criminal tools in their rented place. Jia Qin was sentenced for participating cult organization and violating state laws.

During this period, her husband’s illness got aggravated and then died of cancer in August 2016. On his deathbed, thinking of Jia who was still in prison, her husband looked at their dementia son, tears coursing down his bony cheeks, he bitterly cried: “It was the heinous ‘Falun Gong’ that inflicted tragedies upon my family and turned my previously harmonious family into a broken one! What about my retarded son after I died? I hate to die with such everlasting regret! Who could be there for my poor son?”

With the help and aid from the government, she finally came to her sense

The government didn’t forget about Jia Qin’s family. Shortly after the death of Jia Qin’s husband, the community cadres made in-time arrangement to secure his son’s living standard. Considering the mentally handicapped son was unable to take care of himself, relevant government departments coordinated with the civil affairs department to resettle him in an elderly care institution on the grounds of social relief.

One careless move lost the whole game. Blinded by the illusory “Falun” world and the rosy picture of so-called “Perfection” painted by Li Hongzhi, Jia Qin hurt her family and herself over and over again, and moved step by step towards the fathomless abyss of eternal darkness. With her selfishness, indifference and ruthlessness, she ruined her formerly happy family, got her grief-stricken husband died of cancer, and left her mentally handicapped son to have no one to rely on, all of which were the exact opposite of her original intention to practice “Falun Gong” in order to “reach Perfection” and “be a good person”.

With the patient help and kind attitude of the deprogramming officers, Jia Qin finally came to her sense. She earnestly confessed her mistakes and was determined to make a clean break with the “Falun Gong” cult.

After learning that proper arrangement was made for her son by the government, Jia Qin was moved to tears. And she also felt quite guilty about her husband’s death.

Nowadays, Jia Qin has been back to home and society. When meeting with anti-volunteers who paid her a return visit, she said that she would firmly remember the kindness of the government and took good care of her mentally handicapped son with the rest of her life. She also expressed her sincere wish for those who were still obsessed with “Falun Gong” that they should come to their sense and break away from the cult as soon as possible so that they would stop doing anything harmful to society and their families as well.
